Web Services Orchestration

ProcessPad delivers Web Services Orchestration

There is no doubt that SOA and Web Services have tremendously improved interoperability between businesses by making the necessary resource readily accessible to businesses - achieved through process discovery.

As a result, the cost of collaboration among partners is no longer prohibitive and the business configurations that a company can adopted is virtually limitless. However the expansion in business configuration possibilities has its side-effects. It increases the complexity of managing the business. To cope with the complexity and uncertainty, ProcessPad was developed to manage business processes while enabling flexibility to adapt to changes in the business environment. ProcessPad therefore provides Services Oriented Architecture with an orchestration and choreography mechanism.

Orchestration and Choreography describe the important aspects of creating high level, cross-organizational businesses processes. Orchestration refers to a business process that interacts with both internal and external Web Services. This interaction takes place at the message level.

ProcessPad is a Business Process Orchestration and Choreography platform.

The business process contains the business logic and task execution sequence, and can span across multiple applications and organizations to define a long-lived, transactional, multi-step model. While orchestration represents control from one parties perspective, choreography is more collaborative and allowed each party to define their parts in the collaboration.

Choreography defines the message sequence between multiple parties and sources rather than specific business process that a single party executes.
